Regional New Farmer Programs:

Peterborough Region:

Farms at Work has offered workshops, farm tours, field courses and online resources for new farmers in east central Ontario since 2010. 

Ottawa Region:

Just Food offers both online and hands-on training, including:

Start-up Farm Program with focus on both production and business skills (in English, French, Mandarin, Arabic), including Greenhouse Training and Tractor Training. On site at the Community Farm is also Fermentation Training, Honey Production Training, and training in running a Community Farm.
Just Food provides year-round courses on a variety of topics, a Farm Match program for mentorship with established farmers, and advising on technical matters.

Tiverton Region:

Tiverton Farm in Bruce County, Ontario is home to Inclusive Prosperity’s Farmer Field School, a hands-on training program supporting equity-deserving farmers. The program combines in-field learning in crop production, beekeeping, and livestock care with practical business skills like farm management and financial planning. Through a mix of in-person training, virtual learning, and mentorship, participants build the skills, confidence, and connections needed to launch or strengthen sustainable farm enterprises rooted in community and inclusion.
